Play with Supergrouper to create a group from your favorite artists and get an automatic Spotify playlist.

Have you ever watched your favorite artists and dreamed of what they would be on stage together? Spotify has launched a fun new feature that creates an allstar music supergroup.

The playlists automatically generated by Spotify are usually personalized based on factors such as genre and mood. Supergrouper creates a playlist containing only a set number of artists, which means you will get a more personalized and eclectic result. Kate Bush as lead singer and Stormzy writing lyrics, for example.

Users in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States can try Supergrouper by going to https://spotify.com/supergrouper on their mobile device.

How to Use Spotify Supergrouper

First choose the size of your supergroup, between three and five members.

You will be asked to choose artists to fill roles such as Singer, Lyricistand Producer. A member of the group like the Up and Comer will be the emerging artist of the group, and The Jokerpresumably, is the band member who arrives late, drinks all the beers, and never dues in for gas money.

For each group member, you can Randomize to get a result based on your listening history, or choose an artist by typing the Find an artist bar. You can go back and change your selections by pressing the arrow.

When it comes to naming your group, a generator does the work for you. Choose two phrases to create a name.

You’ll end up with a shareable map to show your social media followers what your new band looks like, and a playlist of random songs by each member.

One of the biggest draws for users of the streaming service is Spotify’s playlist recommendations. Features like Enhance add different random artists based on the genre and mood of the playlist; Blend merges your listening tastes with those of a friend or selected artist.

My Supergroup ended up being called Oh No Everybody. It also contained Taylor Swift as the, uh, up-and-coming artist of the quintuple. Maybe yours will be more accurate! Try Supergrouper here.
