The Dean and Vice Provost of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Danielle Wozniak, will leave Yeshiva University in January to begin her term at the University of New Haven as provost and vice president for academic affairs. Director of Field Studies Ronnie Glassman, who has held the position for the past 29 years, will take over as acting dean.
Vice President and VP Academic Affairs Selma Botman and the search committee will begin their search for Wozniak’s permanent replacement for Wurzweiler’s next dean in January and expects to officially appoint a new dean for fall 2022.
Wozniak joined the YU community in August 2016 and served as Dean and Vice Rector for the next five and a half years. She continued, “I leave feeling honored to have been part of the Yeshiva family and honored to have been part of such a wonderful institution.”
Associate Dean Jay Sweifach, who earned his master’s and doctorate at Wurzweiler, worked under Wozniak for nearly four and a half years as associate dean. “I was fortunate to work alongside Dean Wozniak as Associate Dean for almost his entire tenure at YU,” Sweifach noted. “As a visionary with a load of energy, she definitely kept me on my toes. She’s smart and savvy, and there’s a lot to thank her for pointing out where she found Wurzweiler and where she leaves Wurzweiler .
Glassman sent a message to students thanking Wozniak and formally introducing her own role as acting dean. In the post, Dr. Glassman expressed his goals for the duration of his time in the Dean’s office, saying, “My program includes getting to know some of you better and working with student leaders to keep our finger on the pulse. pulse of what you are. do and need.
Botman and the search committee will enlist the help of a national search firm to best conduct their headhunting for Wozniak’s successor. Among the traits Botman and the search committee are looking for in candidates are experience and innovative leadership. The new dean will need to be able to “expand the successes that Wurzweiler has seen in offerings, enrollments and community programs.”
“Along with WSSW members and the entire YU community, I send our best wishes to Danielle Wozniak,” Botman told the commentator. “Through her hard work and creativity, and thanks to the dedicated work of the School’s faculty and staff, the next Dean will inherit a strong unit poised for even greater growth and stature.”
Botman also thanked Dr. Glassman for maintaining the fort after Dean Wozniak’s departure, adding, “We thank Ronnie Glassman, longtime WSSW faculty member and administrator, for accepting the role of acting dean. . Ronnie has the support of the faculty and will continue to shine a light on social work at YU.
“Wurzweiler is an amazing school – created by faculty and staff – and you. Wonderful, wonderful students. So keep doing well; keep working to fix the world. Keep being the incredible force for good that the world has desperately needed. need,” Wozniak shared in his final message to Wurzweiler students. “And as you pull off the repair job, know that I am one of those who are very, very proud of you, proud that you are a Wurzweiler student. “
