Gas is the new positive social media app for teens

Gas is the new positive social media app for teens, designed to disrupt the industry

A new app called Gas is dominating social markets and its main focus is positivity.

Launched in August 2022, Gas has amassed millions of users in the highly sought-after teen market.

Currently only available in a limited number of states in the United States, Gas asks users to answer multiple-choice questions about other students in their school.

These are often classic yearbook-style categories such as “the most beautiful person you’ve ever met”.

Despite its limited availability, gas has become the most downloaded free iPhone application and the best social media download in the Apple App Store.

How is it different?

The premise of the social network is its goal of encouraging users to compliment (or “gas”) their classmates. They can do this by voting for them anonymously in the various categories presented on the app.

Users receiving the compliments are alerted by notifications, also known as flames. They only receive the rank and gender of the students who vote for them.

Gas stands in stark contrast to the many other mainstream platforms currently accused of promoting toxic content.

In 2021, Meta whistleblower Frances Haugen reported to the US Senate on “The Facebook Files”. At the time, Haugen said that Meta knew they were “leading young users to anorexia content.”

In truth instagram style, the platform is already working on a BeReal clone feature in response to the rise in popularity of the new “genuine” platform.

One would assume that it’s only a matter of time before he also copies Gas.

Hopefully the new wave of popularity on more positive social media platforms such as Gas and BeReal will be a welcome trend among existing platforms.

Perhaps they will promote more positivity in terms of content and interactions for users.
