Following up on their Air Max Penny 1 collaboration earlier this year, Social Status has unveiled a new Air Max Penny 2 capsule titled “Playground” which arrives in partnership with Nike.
The Penny 2s have been rumored for a while; however, they have now been officially confirmed via Instagram and look like they could be among the best Air Max sneakers when they arrive.
Design-wise, the “Playground” 2s have similar color schemes to the “Recess Black” and “Photon Dust” Penny 1s; however, there are a few key differences from the sequel, including the number of references to Penny Hardaway’s storied career.

Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 2 Playground Release Date
Social Status Penny 2s have had a somewhat rocky launch thus far, as they were originally set to drop on September 30, 2022.
However, things got pushed back, resulting in the black and white Penny 2 being postponed for its debut on October 13 according to Instagram social status.
In-store and online raffles are expected to open the October 9 now too, giving you the chance to shop the sneakers before they sell out.
Don’t worry if you’ve already entered the raffle, as all previous entries are still valid, meaning you don’t have to re-enter if you’ve already submitted an entry in-store, online, or on Discord .

Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 2 Playground Designs
As hinted, the Social Status Penny 2 appear to be a visual sequel to the Penny 1 released earlier this year, with the shoes adopting similar white and black color schemes with gray accents.
The biggest difference between the two capsules, however, is the introduction of the light blue tone that is consistently found in the white and black iterations.
The shoes also feature embroidered work showcasing Penny Hardaway’s legacy, which is then topped off with the special edition Lil’ Penny toy-inspired shoeboxes the sneakers come in.
Other notable details include Air branding to the toe caps as well as Nike and Social Status co-branding to the collars.
Social Status also added custom metal hang tags from the bronze and black shoes to round out the design and complete the collaboration in a very unique way.
Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 2 Playground Price
As part of the social status update on the release date, the brand also revealed that the Penny 2s will cost $200 in adult size.
Sizes range from Men’s 4/Women’s 5.5 to Men’s 14/Women’s 15.5, which is something to keep in mind if you’re looking to pick up a pair. That being said, here’s where you can buy…

You can find the sneakers listed in the Social Status store right now; however, you may only create an account in preparation to enter the prize draw at that time.
The sneakers can also be found at A Ma Maniere, although the same social status listing situation also applies here.
