Shortbread company HUNTLY Dean’s have signed up to sponsor this year’s Scottish Men’s Shed Awards.
The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association (SMSA) has teamed up with award-winning Scottish shortbread maker, Dean’s of Huntly, to sponsor the Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year Awards 2022.
SMSA CEO Jason Schroeder said, “We are delighted to announce that Dean’s will be this year’s sponsor of the awards. Our annual awards recognize and reward the life-changing impact Men’s Sheds are having across Scotland.
“The Men’s Sheds Movement is a thriving global phenomenon where The Sheds are now well recognized as a place where men aged 18 or older can go to socialize in a healthy way.
“These safe and friendly spaces are evolving to meet the needs of their members locally and provide so many activities and opportunities to improve the health and well-being of men in our communities.”
The SMSA was established in 2014 to provide support, information, advice and resources to its Shed members. There are over 200 men’s sheds open in Scotland, with over 10,000 members across the movement.
Dean’s Commercial Director, Nick Watkin, said: “We are delighted to support the SMSA and the Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year awards in their fourth year.
“On top of that, we’ll be providing the top three finalists with baskets of shortbread to encourage Shedders to come together for that all-important conversation over a cup of tea. Now more than ever, community spaces like Men’s Sheds that reduce the social isolation and loneliness must be supported.”
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 18 November 2022 and Scottish Sheds, who are members of the SMSA, have until midnight on Sunday 18 September 2022 to apply online via the SMSA website.
The winner and two runners-up will then be announced to the public on Saturday, November 19, 2022 to mark and celebrate International Men’s Day.
