UK-based sustainable children’s clothing manufacturer wins £100,000 grant from Amazon

UK-based clothing startup Petit Pli has been named European Startup of the Year 2022 in Amazon’s annual Innovation Awards. Petit Pli, which uses recycled water bottles to make its range of clothing in up to seven sizes, has received a €100,000 grant and featured placement on Amazon Launchpad, plus a year of account management free and support to sell on Amazon. .

The free competition received thousands of entries across Europe. A panel of expert judges then shortlisted 20 entrepreneurs with innovative products, with those finalists receiving star placement, according to an Amazon press release.

The winning products were first judged by a panel of three industry experts: Aditi Singh, Head of Consumer Startups at Amazon Web Services; Jamie Siminoff, CEO of Ring; and Andy Fishburn, Managing Director of Virgin StartUp. Entries were judged on their aesthetics, design and uniqueness, as well as social, ecological, economic and sustainability factors.

To celebrate the Innovation Awards, Amazon hosted Amazon Launchpad Innovation Week in September. The event featured a curated collection filled with cutting-edge products designed by the UK-based winner and other European finalists, all still available at the Innovation Week store.

Amazon Launchpad was launched in 2015 and is now available across Europe in France, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, as well as the US, Canada, Mexico, India and Australia. Since its launch, Amazon Launchpad has worked with over 200 leading venture capitalists, startup accelerators, and crowdfunding platforms to help startups launch breakthrough products.
